Blog 7 – In The Beginning

Today was our first day of camp.  We served 130 children between the ages of 6-13 from Marapong.  40 youth leaders plus additional adult leaders joined us in sharing with the kids about Creation and that the God that created everything wants a relationship with each one of them!  In our first meeting with the kids, we noticed several things that touched our hearts and truly made it easy to fall in love with them.

Rebecca noticed during lunch time that as the juice was being poured the children would immediately go to their newfound friends and share, to make sure that everyone had something to drink.  Caitlin found that all the kids were very patient with her as well as with each other, waiting quietly for their turn to receive supplies.  Janel and Dominic found that the kid’s engagement during bible reading was refreshing as the kids learned how to navigate the bible and read some of the scripture.  Jody reminded us that it is always such a privilege to share what Paul described as the first importance,  “For what I received, I passed on to you as a first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.” (1st Corinthians 15:3).

It is our priority this week to ensure that every child at camp hears and understands the good news that is the gospel.
