Every single day here at camp the gospel message is shared. We have time set aside to share the gospel with the kids, and give them the opportunity to ask questions and be sure that they understand it. Today during the gospel sharing time, Samuel (one of the South African team leaders) demonstrated how Jesus mends the separation between man and God that sin created. All of the kids were so engaged, and it was so encouraging to hear their questions and help them to understand this message. Our main goal during this camp is that the good news of Jesus would be shared with each and every child, and that they would truly understand the gift we have received
Our bible verse for today was Romans 3:23 “For ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. As we went throughout the day we encouraged the kids to repeat this verse, and by the end of the day nearly every child had it memorized. Not only that, but they also had a real understanding of what this verse means. They participated in an activity to demonstrate how we all fall short of the glory of God – many of them were surprised to find out that yes, even their leaders fall short!! After hearing this message we could really see them begin to understand the importance of a relationship with Jesus, and receiving Him as their Savior.
It was so encouraging to begin to really form relationships with the kids, and have them start to open up to us. We are very excited to see these relationships progress during these next 3 days of camp, and even more excited to see these children grow in their walk with God.
